Delegations News!!

June 23-30, 2012:
Two teachers from Hopkins High School will lead a group of art students to León to tour PML projects and learn about Nicaraguan painting techniques at Xuchialt Art School.

Mid-July, 2012: Youth Cultural Exchange (YCE) has arranged for nine Nicaraguan kids, two chaperones, and coordinator Sarah Shelton to visit host siblings in MN. This delegation follows the Minnesota students who were in Nicaragua last summer.

Late-July, 2012: Thirteen students and the youth minister from St Luke's Presbyterian Church are off on a 14 day trip to León for an experience of meeting people from Nicaragua, exploring PML projects, and trekking to some remote areas of the department.

Early-August, 2012: Master's degree students from Augsburg College will live in homestay arrangements in Nicaragua. Their focus will be to understand issues of health care delivery. They will build on PML's connection to the hospital and local clinics in León

Cumbre
December 2011

The entire PML Board, both north and south, held its "cumbre" (annual meetings) for 4 days in Minnesota in November, 2011.
We have great news to report!
  • The election of a new Board president, Orlando Sarria, who has been a long-time member of the board in Nicaragua.
  • An executive committee which will now have three Nicaraguans and two Minnesotans.
  • A northern and southern chair for all committees.
